Siwa is Egypt’s most remote and mysterious oasis, tucked near the Libyan border deep in the Western Desert. Inhabited by Berber Siwans for thousands of years, it has its own language, traditions, and a timeless way of life. Hot springs, red sand dunes, endless palm trees — Siwa is a lost paradise.
Best Time to Visit
October to March. In summer, temperatures can exceed 45°C — not recommended. November-December offers perfect weather.

Practical Tips
- Siwa is 560 km from Cairo — plan the journey by night bus or car
- Alcohol is forbidden in Siwa — respect local customs
- Dress very modestly, especially women
- Rent a bicycle or horse-drawn carriage to get around the oasis
- Don’t miss the Thursday morning market
- Bring cash — few ATMs and card payment is rare
