The White Desert is one of the most extraordinary landscapes in Egypt — and in the world. Immaculate white limestone formations sculpted by wind into mushrooms, chickens, and miniature sphinxes rise from golden sand like a giant sculpture park. Just a few kilometres away, the Black Desert offers a radical contrast: extinct volcanoes coat the ground in gleaming black rock. Together, they form one of the most surreal natural wonders on the planet.

November to March. Nights can be very cold (0°C in January). Absolutely avoid summer. Sunset and sunrise in the White Desert are uniquely magical moments.

Practical Tips
- Pack a warm sleeping bag — nights can be freezing in winter

- Never come without a guide — the desert is vast and easy to get lost in
- Bring enough water for at least 2 days
- Photograph at night — the starry sky is exceptional, very little light pollution
